Good to know |
The Niraj Valley (Nyárádmente) is one of the most densely populated regions of Romania. Its settlements, likewise a necklace of pearls, are enlaced on the banks of the Niraj (in Hungarian Nyárád) river and its affluents. In this approximately 80 kilometers (49 miles) long valley lay 66 settlements, with a total population of 38.000 souls. The main source of income in this land, as it has always been, is agriculture.
